On the 5th of Sept. we took a road trip to Dublin to attend the Food & Drink Business Awards in the City West Hotel in Dublin.
The awards which were first introduced last year, is the first of its kind on the island of Ireland in celebrating and promoting the best of the Irish food and drink manufacturing industry and the people behind the products.
The Awards cover 18 categories across the full spectrum of the Irish food and drink industry. This encompasses the major sectors – ingredients, fresh produce, dairy, meat/poultry, seafood, beverages, bakery, confectionery and spirits. The Awards also recognise achievements within specific product categories – free from/vegan, health & wellness and own label brand. Other Award categories include: Food & Drink Innovation Company of the Year, Food Service Company of the Year, Sustainable Company of the Year, Supply Chain Company of the Year and Packaging Company of the Year.
There were some fantastic Irish companies nominated in these categories, Java Republic, Kerrygold, Freshly Chopped, Dunnes Stores, Dawn Meats and Manor Farm to name a few. Some of which we have the pleasure of doing business with.
We were really thrilled to win Packaging Company of the Year; it was especially poignant as this year marks our 10th year in business for Down2Earth Materials. In those 10 years we have built up a strong, committed hard working team with a shared passion in providing certified sustainable packaging in the food service industry. So, it was fantastic to see that recognised for the team.
We have some exciting new products and developments coming down the line for this year so we are back to the grindstone working hard.
Congratulations again to all the runners up and winners on the night and to Food & Drink Business Awards for putting on a great show.
Until next year!
