The Green Awards are the long-standing benchmark for excellence for those demonstrating best green practice in Ireland.
On February 21st at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin, over 500 industry figures recognised and celebrated the outstanding achievements within Ireland’s green industry, with 25 prestigious trophies presented to the very worthy Green Awards 2017 winners!
We here at Down2Earth were nominated in the Excellence in Waste Management category, and were thrilled to have taken home top honours on the night! Our compostable expert John proudly accepted the award on behalf of the entire D2E team. The beautiful slate trophy now takes pride of place in our trophy cabinet.
Of course, this is not our first time having been nominated for these prestigious awards – we had been nominated three times previously (not to brag or anything!). In 2013, the Down2Earth team was also nominated for a CRE award, and ended up taking home the gong for Outstanding Contribution to the Sector. We also were lucky enough to be awarded Repak’s Sustainable Packaging Design Award in 2014! These nominations, and of course winning this award, mean so much to us here at Down2Earth. We aim to do our very best to educate our customers on best practices as far as waste management goes, so it’s fantastic that we have been recognised for practicing what we preach.
Our compostable foodservice packaging is an extremely effective and viable solution to responsible waste management. We can prevent millions of tonnes of materials being sent unnecessarily to landfill, by composting food disposables. Plastic packaging is adding to the waste problem, and simply put; compostable packaging can counteract this.
