We are delighted to be announced as the official suppliers of compostable packaging at Bloom this year.
Bloom is Ireland’s largest gardening, food and family event that has been taking place in Phoenix Park, Dublin since 2007. Last year it attracted over 110,000 visitors with an estimated 200,000 expected to attend the event this year which is taking place this June bank holiday weekend, from Thursday 29th May until Monday 2nd June. Bloom, which is sponsored by Bord Bia, will showcase 30 superb show gardens, featuring the very best of Ireland’s landscapers and designers. There will be something for everyone with bespoke garden creations on display from Crumlin Children’s Hospital Garden, Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Garden, a staggering 10ft Mr Tayto will overlook the Tayto Garden – Potato to Packet, which will also include the largest water feature ever to appear at Bloom, the Barretstown & Glanbia: Sowing the Seeds of Magic garden providing a magical, thought provoking and fun-filled place for children and adults to enjoy, and the Samaritans, You’ll Talk I’ll Listen garden, designed to highlight the powerful effects of simply talking about your problems.
Bloom veteran Fiann Ó Nualláin also returns with The First Place – a garden created to show the medicinal qualities of plants.
Visitors hoping to attend this years show will be delighted to hear that the Food Village at Bloom returns with an even greater choice of culinary delights. A wide range of dining options along with numerous options for a quick coffee or delectable nibbles will be on display. Cheese connoisseurs will be delighted to hear that the Irish Cheese Awards 2014 will be taking place at Bloom to showcase and reward the very best from Ireland’s farmhouse cheese producers.
Another sure attraction this year at the Food Village will be The Quality Kitchen stage, which will see some of Ireland’s most loved chef’s such as Neven Maguire, Kevin Dundon and Catherine Fulvio. They will be hosting a number of daily demonstrations showcasing a range of new recipes made from Bord Bia Quality Assured products and the best of local ingredients.
This year, Down2Earth Materials have been chosen as the recommended supplier of all food packaging for the event. We are thrilled to be apart of such a highly regarded event. As all of our products are certified compostable, they will break down into soil within 9-12 weeks under the correct temperature. This soil helps to grow new plants that our products are made from and enables Bloom to exhibit such fantastic expositions year after year.
With 30 exquisite garden and 55 plant displays as well as nurseries, craft workers and artisan food and drink companies, there really is something for everyone.
