Once in a while you may come across a food business with a special quality; a business that truly cares and is deeply passionate about making a difference – be it to our attitudes, our experiences or simply to our taste buds. At Down2Earth Materials we are delighted to be working with a food business that epitomises this concept perfectly, and their attitude is not only admirable, but is backed up by quite simply -the freshest, tastiest & healthiest food you could put into your body (no, seriously!)
Brothers, Steven and David of THE HAPPY PEAR are on a mission. As they put it themselves:
We’re truly invested wholeheartedly, body, mind and soul in helping people to improve their health and happiness through the power of whole, mainly plant-based food.
Now I know what you’re thinking… Sounds like ‘marketing speak,’ but as soon as you experience the food and atmosphere of THE HAPPY PEAR for yourself, you’ll quickly realise that this statement is definitely at the heart of everything that this business is aiming to achieve.
The Happy Pear has been in operation for the past 8 years. It started out as a fruit and veg. shop, with the later addition of a juice and smoothie bar and now also has a restaurant serving delicious seasonal freshly prepared vegetarian on a daily basis. As well as the delicious, wholesome foods on offer, the atmosphere of The Happy Pear is one of warmth, welcome and good natured fun. The restaurant/cafe and shop are looked after by people who are relaxed, healthy and happy. It’s a place were you can come and count on being greeted by a genuine smile, have your health and food questions honestly answered and relax, in good company or alone, while enjoying something delicious and truly nourishing.
Down2Earth Materials supplied a wide range of compostable packaging for their food stall at this year’s Body & Soul event. (And judging by the crowds gathered around their stall, the mal-nourished, tired and wet festival-goers were sincerely appreciative of the impressive spread of fresh, healthy produce The Happy Pear had on offer!!) Speaking about their use of fully compostable packaging they told us:
Fresh produce is our main selling point. We invest a lot of time and money in to fresh fruit and veg., as well as growing a great deal of produce ourselves. We truly appreciate the land and all that is has to offer as well as the environment that nourishes it. In keeping with that we want to leave as meager a footprint as possible. Recycling and using compostable products is key to reducing pollution.
The team at Down2Earth are big fans of The Happy Pear. Not just because of what they have to offer in terms of food and service, but because it is obvious that at the heart of their endeavours is their deep desire to educate the general public on eating habits, and help put a smile on our face. No easy feat!!
We wish them every success in their food adventure and look forward to working with them in the future.
